Gif (114K)This animation shows results from a Life of Field corrosion study done in combination with the corrosion expertise of a large Oil and Gas company. The bottom plot is results from a compositional Life of Field flowline simulator of an insulated daisy-chained flowline, gathering produced fluids from four drill centres at different points along its length. Carbonic acid corrosion was a major Flow Assurance concern in this system due to the large carbon dioxide partial pressure in the gas phase and temperatures. Continuous corrosion inhibition was required at a high level of availability and effectiveness. The top plot shows the amount of wall loss due to corrosion in this system calculated by integrating the corrosion rate calculated at each point along the line, at each time point using the clients own corrosion model. This Life of Field integrated approach to corrosion calculations is of great benefit when not wanting to introduce too many conservative assumptions into a corrosion calculation.
